The Bookmark Society, Horwich, UK

The Bookmark Society was founded in 1991 by Joe Stephenson of Horwich.
Most members (around 80) are based in the UK, but the Society welcomes members from the whole world.

The Society publishes a periodic newsletter (in English) with news and listings about bookmarks old and new. There are also swapmeets at least twice a year at which members can get to know other collectors, discuss nominated themes and, of course, swap bookmarks. Subscriptions are currently 7 UKP in the UK, 10 UKP in the EU and $20 in all other countries. Subscriptions should be sent to Mrs. Barbara Smith, 30 Welland Vale Road, Evington, Leicester, LE5 6PW, United Kingdom.

The Leather Bookmark Club

The club was started in 1989
and has members from UK so far. They welcome members from all over the world, and membership is free. The intention is to promote the collection of leather or leather board bookmarks from any part of the world. The members collect all types, cities, towns, places of interest, attractions, events, charities and organisations. They run a free "swapping" service for all collectors.

The club members are interested in purchasing any type of leather or leather board bookmark,
both new and old, providing they are in reasonable condition. Manufacturers who have
several runs might consider putting a sample to one side and allowing them to purchase the different designs when they have a batch. They purchase the odd one or two or complete collections. These go into swap banks and eventually all find a home with genuine collectors.
