Kirsten Flagstad was a Norwegian opera singer, one of the greatest
Wagnerian sopranos of the 20th century. A restrained and expressive
stage performer, she was admired internationally for her voice's sheer
tonal beauty, power, stamina, security and consistency of line and
tone. In Norway Flagstad is revered as a national hero and her pictures
have even made on stamps. The town of Hamar, being the birthplace of Flagstad dedicated her a museum where these bookmarks are sold as a merchandise.
